The International Basketball Federation of Asia announced the holding of a match of the national team of OAE in basketball against the national team of Syria within the framework of the third round of the selection tournament for the Asia Championship 2025. The match will take place in the capital of Qatar, Doha. Currently, the OAE national team is in a training camp in Serbia, preparing for the game against Syria on February 21 in Doha, and then a match with Lebanon on February 24 in Beirut. It is planned that the training camp of the team will finish on February 17, in order to return to the country before the flight to Qatar. At the moment, the OAE national team occupies the third place in the sixth group with five points, equal to that of the Syria team. The group is led by Lebanon with eight points, followed by Bahrain with six points. In the Asia Championship, teams that claim first and second places in each group, and teams that claim third places, play in the playoffs, where five out of six participants reach the final stage.
