The Egyptian national team has been eliminated from the Under-17 FIFA World Cup after losing to their Swiss counterparts 3-1 in the Round of 32, held in the Qatari capital, Doha. After finishing third in their group and advancing to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams, Egypt faced Switzerland, the leaders of Group Six with seven points. Switzerland secured victories over Mexico and Ivory Coast, as well as a draw with South Korea. The Swiss team took the lead in the 15th minute through a goal by Nevill Schärer, and Ethan Brochinz added a second goal in the 39th minute. Switzerland's third goal was scored by Gill Steel in the 58th minute, while Egypt's sole goal was scored by Ans Rashid in the first minute of added time in the second half. In the Round of 16, the Swiss team will face the winner of the match between Ireland and Canada, also part of the Round of 32.
