National Team Misses Chance to Beat Egypt in Arab Cup

Athletes and technical analysts have stated that the national team missed a valuable opportunity to win against its Egyptian counterpart, as it appeared technically well in the second round match of Group Three of the Arab Cup, currently held in Doha, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The 'Whites' were leading 1-0 until just five minutes before the end, but they retreated and nearly lost in the dying moments after the referee disallowed a goal for 'The Pharaohs' following a video assistant technology (VAR) review. They told 'Emirates Today': 'The team's chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals is still alive if they win against Kuwait tomorrow, but it is weak as it also depends on the result of the Egyptian team's match.' They added that there were four technical observations on the team's performance, including losing a win due to poor tactical reading by the Romanian coach, Olariu Cosmin, and his lack of timely intervention, as well as recurring defensive errors. Former national team coach and technical analyst, Dr. Abdullah Masfar, confirmed that despite the team's good performance against Egypt, it missed the chance to win and still suffers from defensive problems. Coach and former international goalkeeper, Mutez Abdullah, also pointed out technical issues related to match management and instability in the starting lineup and substitutions. Former international player, Farooq Abdelrahman, emphasized that the team lacks a leader on the field to guide his teammates.
