Qatar to Introduce New Legislation to Attract Investors

Qatar is set to introduce new legislations, including bankruptcy and public-private partnership laws, aimed at enhancing its attractiveness to foreign investors, as stated by the Minister of Commerce and Industry.

The latest version of Qatar's National Development Strategy indicates the country's intention to introduce new laws, including a law on bankruptcy, a law on partnership between the public and private sectors, as well as a law on commercial registration. Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al-Thani stated in an interview that he expects the adoption of laws on bankruptcy and on partnerships between the public and private sectors by the end of March next year.

The new Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar stated to Reuters that Qatar plans to introduce three new laws within a comprehensive legislative framework aimed at increasing the attractiveness for foreign investors. "We are reviewing 27 laws and regulations in 17 ministries of the government, which cover more than 500 types of activities," he noted.
