The project connects a maritime distance of about 35 nautical miles (65 km) with two daily trips, with a travel time of about 70 minutes, soon to be expanded to three trips per day. Qatar's Minister of Transport, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, stated that the project represents a leading strategic step that embodies the depth of ties between the two countries and enhances cooperation and integration pathways within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council. He added that this maritime link reflects Qatar's commitment to developing developmental and strategic partnerships with Bahrain and elevating the transport and logistics sector to serve common interests and boost Gulf economic integration. The Qatari ministry, in coordination with Bahrain's Ministry of Transport and Communications, has applied the highest standards of safety, security, and operational quality to ensure a safe and comfortable travel experience. In turn, the Undersecretary of the Qatari Ministry of Transport, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Ibrahim Al-Ma'adeed, noted that the project embodies a shared vision between Doha and Manama, pointing out that transport is one of the main drivers of sustainable development. The route between Askar in Bahrain and Ras Al-Zour in Qatar was chosen for the project, which is set to be implemented over a period of 4 to 5 years.

"This maritime route is not limited to transporting individuals only, but opens the door to various economic, tourist, and service activities, which enhances returns across various sectors."
