Qatar Accuses Iran of New Attack and Appeals to UN

Qatar's Ministry of Defense announced a new attack by the Islamic Republic of Iran involving drones and cruise missiles on Sunday, April 5, 2026. The Qatari Armed Forces successfully intercepted all drones and cruise missiles. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it has officially addressed the United Nations, demanding that Iran take legal responsibility and provide compensation for all damages incurred by Qatar due to the Iranian attacks. The incident resulted in four moderate injuries, including a Qatari child, who were immediately treated by specialized teams. Limited material damage was recorded at the site of the incident. Qatar emphasized in its letters that these attacks constitute a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026) and called on the Council to fulfill its duties in maintaining international peace and security. The Qatari authorities confirmed that the targets of the attacks were purely civilian, representing a blatant violation of the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and international humanitarian law. In two letters sent to the UN, Qatar reaffirmed its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and stated it will take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and security. Qatar also demanded that those responsible be held accountable under international law.
