Arab Ministers Meet in Doha to Discuss Gaza Reconstruction

The Arab foreign ministers met in Doha with the U.S. special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to discuss the reconstruction plan for Gaza supported by Arab countries. Representatives from Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates were present at the meeting, in addition to the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization.

During the discussion, the reconstruction plan was presented to Witkoff, agreeing to continue consultations and coordination on this project as a basis for reconstruction efforts in Gaza, according to a statement from the Qatari Foreign Ministry. This plan contrasts with Donald Trump's previous proposal to redevelop Gaza and resettle its population in neighboring countries.

The ministers emphasized the importance of achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, underlining the need to strive for a just peace based on a two-state solution. They also stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue to strengthen the ceasefire and work together for security, stability, and peace in the region.

The Gaza reconstruction plan, approved at the Arab summit in Cairo on March 4, has an estimated cost of $53 billion and aims to rebuild the area without displacing its residents.
