The Qatar Grand Prix, corresponding to the 23rd round of the Formula 1 World Championship and key to the title fight, will take place this weekend and feature the participation of Argentine Franco Colapinto (Alpine). This Grand Prix, to be covered live by the Argentine News Agency and held at the Lusail International Circuit (16 corners and 5.418 km in length), will be very intense as it will also include a sprint race on Saturday.
The action will begin on Friday with the only free practice session between 10:30 and 11:30 (Argentina time). Just a few hours later, at 14:30, the sprint race qualifying will start.
Saturday will be a key day in Qatar, with the sprint race at 11:00, which is a third of the length of a normal race and awards eight points to the winner, seven to the second, and so on down to eighth place. Later, at 15:00, the main race qualifying will begin.
Finally, the activity at the Qatar GP will conclude this Sunday with the race starting at 13:00.
The Qatar Grand Prix could be crucial in the title fight between the McLaren drivers, British Lando Norris and Australian Oscar Piastri, and Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull). At the last round in Las Vegas, Verstappen took the victory and had cut the gap to 42 points with the leader, Norris, although it would have been practically impossible to reverse that distance with only two Grands Prix left to be contested.
However, the FIA disqualified the McLaren drivers (Norris and Piastri) due to an infringement on the floor area of their cars, which resulted in Verstappen and Piastri being 24 points behind Norris.
