Al-Wasl Secures Victory Against Al-Gharafa

The football club "Al-Wasl" returned with a deserved victory over the Qatari team "Al-Gharafa" with a score of 2:1 on the field "Al-Khor" in the match of the third round of the group stage of the AFC Champions League. "Al-Wasl" now has 6 points and occupies fifth place in the group of Western Asia teams, while "Al-Gharafa" is left with three points in sixth place.

From the very beginning of the match, "Al-Wasl" controlled the flow of the game, forcing "Al-Gharafa" to retreat, but the attack remained insufficiently sharp due to the unstable game of Lima and Ali Saleh. The only mistake in favor of "Al-Wasl" came when they conceded a goal just a minute before the end of the first half when Harris Seferovich failed to clear the ball, which ended up at the feet of "Al-Gharafa" player Ferjani Sassi, who scored into the net.

In the second half, "Al-Wasl's" attacks improved. After a dangerous attack and a blow from Komana, who passed the ball from a wide angle, Seferovich could not score a goal after a pass into his zone, and the result became a strike into the corner.

Then Lima also failed to score after a strike into the corner. The most dangerous attack was a hit from Salem Al-Azizi, but the ball passed wide of the goal. Substituting Kayo Candido received a penalty after a foul in the penalty area by "Al-Gharafa's" goalkeeper, but VAR showed an offside on the "Al-Wasl" player.

The turning moment came in the 83rd minute when Fabio Lima received the ball, struck towards the goal, the ball hit the arm of the "Al-Gharafa" defender Abdully Youssef, and the referee awarded a penalty, which Lima successfully converted. "Al-Wasl" continued the attack and, thanks to the substitution of Issac Sacks, who capitalized on a pass from Jimenez, scored the second goal (91), ending the match with a victory of 2-1.
